PM Modi Concludes Successful G7 Summit, Highlights India’s Global Leadership

New Delhi, July 16, 2024 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi today after a successful participation in the G7 Summit held in Italy’s Apulia region. This marked his first international visit since assuming office for the third term, underscoring India’s proactive diplomacy and growing global influence.

Italy, as the host country, invited India as an ‘Outreach Country’ to the G7 Summit, recognizing India’s pivotal role in global affairs. Prime Minister Modi engaged in substantive discussions with leaders from G7 countries and the European Union, focusing on key issues such as climate change, economic cooperation, and technological innovation.

In his address at the G7 Outreach Session on AI and Energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean, Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive development. He highlighted India’s strides in artificial intelligence and stressed the importance of cybersecurity in ensuring safe and responsible technological advancements.

“India is at the forefront of harnessing AI for socio-economic development while ensuring data security and privacy,” Prime Minister Modi reiterated in a social media update post-summit. His remarks resonated with global leaders as India continues to play a significant role in shaping the digital landscape.

During the summit, Prime Minister Modi also reiterated India’s support for the Global South, advocating for inclusive growth and development. He underscored India’s deepening ties with Africa and its efforts to strengthen partnerships across the Mediterranean region, reinforcing India’s commitment to global stability and cooperation.

The discussions at the G7 Summit reflected India’s proactive stance on global issues, reaffirming its role as a responsible global leader committed to sustainable development and equitable growth.
