Prime Minister Modi to Visit Wayanad on August 10 to Assess Landslide Impact and Relief Efforts

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Wayanad district in Kerala on Saturday, August 10, 2024, to evaluate the aftermath of the recent landslides that have caused significant disruption in the region. The visit aims to bolster ongoing relief and rescue operations and offer support to affected communities.

During his trip, Modi will visit key sites including a relief camp, a hospital, and the Bailey bridge, which has been constructed by the Indian Army to facilitate access and aid in the disaster-hit areas. The Bailey bridge has been instrumental in enabling the transportation of relief supplies and personnel to regions that have been isolated due to the landslides.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will carry out an aerial survey of the affected areas to gain a comprehensive understanding of the damage and the progress of the relief efforts. This aerial observation will provide a broader perspective on the extent of the devastation and help guide further response measures.

Modi will arrive at Kannur airport aboard a special flight and then travel to Wayanad by Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter. His visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the crisis and supporting the local population through effective disaster management.

The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to provide a significant boost to the morale of both the affected residents and the relief teams working tirelessly on the ground. It will also highlight the government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the impact of the disaster and ensure a coordinated and effective response.
