LoP R Ashoka Slams Karnataka Government for Releasing Water to Telangana

Date:

Karnataka Leader of Opposition (LoP) R Ashoka has strongly criticized the state government’s decision to release 1.5 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) of water to Telangana, calling it a “wrong decision” that puts Karnataka’s drought-affected regions at risk.

Ashoka directly blamed the Congress-led government and the state’s Irrigation Minister for the move, alleging that the decision was politically motivated. “The Karnataka government, especially the irrigation minister, has made the wrong decision to release water. We are facing a drought in Karnataka, yet they are prioritizing Telangana for political benefits,” he said.

The BJP leader warned that his party would stage protests against the water release, emphasizing that Karnataka’s farmers and residents should not be made to suffer due to political interests. “We will protest against this injustice. Karnataka’s water should be used for our people first,” he asserted.

The issue has added to the ongoing political tensions in the state, with the opposition accusing the government of neglecting Karnataka’s water crisis while prioritizing political alliances.
