Booth Level Officers Begin Door-to-Door Voter Verification in Karnataka

Date:

Karnataka: Karnataka has officially launched the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) of the voter list, initiating a large-scale voter verification process across the state. Under this process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting door-to-door visits to gather voter information in order to update, verify, and correct voter records.

To carry out this process systematically, over 59,000 BLOs have been deployed across all 31 district election offices. They are being supported by 224 Electoral Registration Officers, 336 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and 7,556 BLO Supervisors to ensure better coordination and accuracy in the revision process.

In addition to election officials, political parties have also played an active role by appointing over 1.15 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to assist with and monitor the work of Booth Level Officers (BLOs). The objective of this exercise is to reach out to Karnataka’s electorate of over 5.5 crore people and ensure that every eligible voter is included in the updated electoral roll.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar participated in the process of getting his name added to the voter list by filling out the voter form at his Bengaluru residence. He encouraged first-time voters to register and assured them of full support from the state government in obtaining the necessary documents and certificates.

The government and the Election Commission have emphasized that this revision process is crucial for maintaining an accurate and transparent voter database ahead of future elections.
