Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the procurement of pulses and oilseeds worth ₹5,547.99 crore at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27 in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana.
The aim of this decision is to protect farmers particularly those growing pulses and oilseeds—from falling market prices and ensure they earn good returns. The approved procurement covers Tur, Moong, soybean, and sunflower across the three states.
Karnataka has been allocated ₹1,107 crore for procurement under the scheme. The plan includes 1,15,500 metric tonnes of soybean worth ₹659.27 crore, 38,250 metric tonnes of moong worth ₹335.83 crore, and 13,413 metric tonnes of sunflower valued at ₹111.90 crore.
The government has approved procurement worth ₹448.42 crore in Telangana under the Price Support Scheme (PSS). The procurement will cover 62,000 metric tonnes of soybean worth ₹353.90 crore and 10,766 metric tonnes of moong valued at ₹94.52 crore, with both commodities to be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Uttar Pradesh has received the largest share of the approved procurement, amounting to ₹3,992.57 crore. The plan covers 4,66,000 metric tonnes of Arhar (tur dal) worth ₹3,937.70 crore and 6,250 metric tonnes of Moong valued at ₹54.87 crore, with both to be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Chauhan stated that the government is focusing on ensuring farmers get fair prices for their produce and making the procurement system more transparent and streamlined. He added that this move would boost domestic production of pulses and oilseeds and support efforts to enhance self-reliance in pulses and edible oils.
Procurement at designated centers will be carried out through a transparent system, and farmers will receive timely payments directly into their bank accounts.
