PM Modi’s People-Centric Approach to Governance

Date:

In a landmark address to the officials of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has assumed office for the third time, articulated a transformative vision for the PMO. He stressed that the PMO should not be viewed as a power center, but rather as a catalyst for the nation’s development.

“Ten years ago, the prevailing image in our country was that the PMO is a power center, a substantial power center,” said Modi. “But I was not born for power. I do not have the ambition to acquire power. It is neither my aspiration nor my path that the PMO should become a power center.”

This statement signifies a major shift from the traditional understanding of the PMO. It mirrors Modi’s commitment to a more participatory and people-focused approach to governance.

Modi also highlighted the measures his administration has implemented since 2014 to reform the PMO. “We have strived to transform it into a catalytic agent,” he said. This suggests a change in emphasis from power consolidation to facilitating change and progress.

In a compelling conclusion, Modi declared, “The PMO should be the people’s PMO. It cannot be Modi’s PMO.” This statement underscores his dedication to serving the people of India and ensuring that the PMO works in their best interest.

This vision of a people-centric PMO sets a new standard for future administrations. It emphasizes the importance of democratic values, public service, and the role of government as a facilitator of change. As Modi begins his third term in office, it will be intriguing to see how this vision is actualized in policy and action.
