BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya Comments on Ramanagara Name Change Controversy, Expresses Concerns About Bengaluru’s Issues

Date:

Delhi: BJP MP Lahar Singh Siroya has weighed in on the ongoing debate over the proposed name change of Ramanagara, expressing his views on the controversy and highlighting concerns about Bengaluru’s existing problems. The issue has sparked considerable discussion in Karnataka, with some leaders and citizens questioning the rationale behind the change.

In his remarks, Siroya defended the current name of Ramanagara, describing it as “a good name.” He questioned the motives of Karnataka leaders who, according to him, seem to have an “allergy” to the name ‘Ram.’ Siroya’s comments reflect a broader debate over regional and cultural sensitivities associated with the name change.

“We don’t have any objection towards naming it Bengaluru South,” Siroya stated, acknowledging the potential rebranding. However, he voiced concerns about the pressing issues facing Bengaluru, which include problems related to infrastructure, water supply, and law and order.

“The kind of problems Bengaluru is facing like the situation of roads, shortage of drinking water, and law and order issues… we just hope these issues don’t reach Bengaluru South,” Siroya said. His comments underscore the need to address existing urban challenges in Bengaluru before focusing on administrative changes like renaming.

The debate over the Ramanagara name change has been a point of contention, with varying opinions on whether it reflects a genuine administrative need or is driven by political motivations. Siroya’s remarks add to the discourse, emphasizing the importance of addressing critical issues in Bengaluru while navigating the complexities of local administrative changes.
