Date:

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in school education. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Education Department, NCERT, CBSE, NIOS, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and an expert group to assess progress and future strategies.

Pradhan announced that teaching and learning materials for early childhood education up to Class III have been fully developed, ensuring a strong foundation in the formative years. He further shared that new textbooks for Classes I and VIII have already been created, while textbooks for Classes IX and X are in the final stages of preparation and will be introduced in the next academic year. Work on books for Classes XI and XII is also progressing steadily.

Highlighting the nationwide adoption of NEP reforms, the minister noted that many states have already implemented the new curriculum framework, with most aligning their school education systems to NEP’s vision of play-based and joyful learning. He emphasized that the reforms aim to make education more holistic, skill-oriented, and future-ready, nurturing creativity and critical thinking among students.

Pradhan reiterated the Centre’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to NEP-based learning across the country, calling it a transformative step toward preparing India’s youth for the demands of the 21st century.
