Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has strongly criticized the Karnataka state government over the newly introduced garbage collection fee in Bengaluru, calling it a sign of mismanagement and financial distress. Joshi, who hails from Karnataka, expressed his discontent with the state government’s decision, accusing it of failing to manage the state’s finances.
“The Karnataka government has become garbage for the nation. The state government has gone pauper, bankrupt,” Joshi remarked, referring to the state’s financial struggles. He pointed to the increasing inflation in Karnataka and the newly imposed “Garbage tax” as an indication of the government’s inability to manage the state’s economy effectively.
The Union Minister condemned the introduction of the fee, which has sparked widespread criticism from residents of Bengaluru. “Today, there is so much inflation in Karnataka, and now this ‘Garbage tax’. I condemn it,” Joshi said, emphasizing that the government’s financial mismanagement was directly impacting the citizens, particularly with the imposition of such fees.
Bengaluru, a city facing significant waste management challenges, has introduced the garbage collection fee as part of an effort to streamline waste disposal services.
